I travel a lot.

And I am notorious for over packing so I’ve had to come up with a few creative ways to pack more into my carry on!

First, you’ve got to be smart. You can’t pack 5 pairs of shoes and 15 outfits – be real, you know you aren’t going to wear them anyway. However – you don’t want to look like you belong on a “People of Walmart” video either, right?
Don’t worry, I’ve got you. This blog will teach you how to pack like a pro (lightly) and still look super cute + trendy.

Tip #1: Pick a color pallet. Stick to neutrals with some pops of colors for accessories (lets be honest: my hair is my pop of color HA!). I always go with either black + brown or black + gray combos. This way all of my shirts match the pants I packed plus 2 pairs of shoes (black and brown). I never pack an item that I can only wear with one specific thing – that takes up valuable space in my suitcase.

Tip #2: Get travel size makeup samples from Sephora and stockpile them. You don’t need that entire bottle of foundation, you just need a small amount. I used to buy travel containers then I got smart and started getting travel size or try me size from department stores. Life Saver.
Tip #3: Wear your heaviest/bulkiest its on the plane. This means your scarfs, boots, jackets. Yes, I know it may seem troublesome, but it’s not. Dress in layers and start shedding clothing if you get hot – but truthfully if you are on a plane where it’s frigid temps – you will be thanking me later for this tip. It’s easier to take off layers than freeze for a 4 hour flight. Plus – this frees up so much space in your suitcase.

Tip #4: You’re allowed an extra personal item (such as a purse). Ladies, this is where you need to become the hobo bag lady. Get the biggest, bag possible – make that your purse. Stuff your crossbody bag in there, then after you go through security, pull it It out. Voila! You’ve got your purse + another bag for all your necessities.
Tip #5: Roll and stuff, roll and stuff. Roll up everything – undies included! I save my flimsy items and they can be stuck inside the spaces where other items don’t meet the edges of the suitcase.

There you go! My 5 best tips for traveling light and still having all the items you need when you arrive.

There’s nothing worse than arriving to your destination and not having bloomies 😉
