I love watching design and decorating shows. I’m basically best friends with Chip + Jo. I’ve watched Fixer Upper as many times as I’ve watched Friends (and that my folks is a LOT of times HA).
The thought of having a whole new home is great in theory, but renovations are messy and expensive time consuming, and exhausting. Y’all who follow me on social, you’ve seen my wall paper fiasco.
I have found a few easy ways to give your home a makeover that won’t break your budget or make you crazy in the process.
These five simple home updates will give your space a fresh new look without requiring a major renovation.
Change the Lighting

A room’s lighting can be a huge factor in the look and feel of the space, which makes a change of lighting a great way to restyle a room without completely renovating. Start by swapping out the light fixture for something with a little more style. And if the room seems to dark, add floor or table lamps to the room to instantly brighten up the space.
Update Drawer Pulls and Knobs

Does your kitchen need a facelift? If getting new cabinetry is out of the question (and budget), consider this small change that makes a huge difference in the look of the space – install new drawer pulls and knobs. You can often even find farmhouse/antique style knobs at the Flea Market or Antique stores! This simple swap can instantly give the room a new look without the cost and headache of a remodel.

Paint

The walls of a room are a focal point of the space, so if they’re not your style or you just want fresh color, then you can easily make the swap! A fresh coat of paint in a light, neutral tone is a great way to brighten up a room without remodeling.
Change Bathroom Fixtures
The fixtures in your bathroom can start to look old and dated after years of use. But luckily, it’s simple to change out the faucets on your sink and bathtub or the showerhead. Keep an eye on the clearance section – I’ve found great ones on sale! And this simple fix will instantly make the room look more pulled together and polished without the need to completely remodel the room.
Update the Exterior
Since the outside of your home is the first thing people see when they visit, taking the time to update the exterior is a great idea. Adding new plants to your landscape or trimming the existing bushes and trees is a simple way to make the exterior of your home more polished. Another easy exterior update that makes a big impact is installing a new door or painting your existing door in new, more welcoming shade.
So, do I have you inspired to make some new changes in your home? With all these simple ideas that don’t require a renovation, you’re sure to have your home looking amazing in no time!
